It has been used in diesel environments for AGES. It breaks down from heat and ozone more than viton though. For where it is, I would use Buna-N and not think twice. Change it out every filter change. I like the newer silicone o-rings. Much more expensive, and don't swell to stop age leaks, but man they last forever.
