I worked on the car all weekend and I am pretty tired. Got the trans installed and was fairly successful in wrestling it in place, it was easier with the trans bolted to the bell housing.

The bearing retainer is supposed to be a tight fit for alignment purposes. I doubt the front bearing assembly would last very long with that setup.

Some go into the block (about 6 of them around the top of the bellhousing) and some are through bolts with lock washers and nuts (on the lower half of the bellhousing).
